The frontal nudes taken by LIFE photographers appear in the archive, hence the watermark, but they were not published at the time. The men in them were told that their privates would be cropped out of any pictures that went into the magazine, and that was true. What they weren't told was that they would be kept in storage in the unedited form and appear 50 years later on a thing called the internet. Who knew?
